
The IFP Alumni, Kenya is an association formed by the Ford Foundation International Fellowship Program beneficiaries who had finished their graduate studies and returned back home. The association was formed in 2005 and registered by the registrar of companies in Kenya. Since its inception, the association has grown to seventy seven members. They have elected officials and a running bank account. The IFP Alumni Kenya seeks to promote social justice for improved quality of life among disadvantaged communities through networking between alumni.

A Kenyan society in which social justice is upheld in all spheres of life.
Mission
To empower disadvantaged communities in Kenya through mobilization of resources in order to improve their wellbeing.
OBJECTIVES
- To mobilize resources;
- To create and facilitate a mechanism through which alumni can re-enter and re-integrate into the Kenyan national system;
- To create a forum through which alumni can share experiences, network and build strategies and support for each other
- To enhance and build self esteem and enhance leadership skills among members;
- To inform and educate society on issues of social justice
- To establish and sustain partnership with other development actors.

Some Achievements
- Held several consultative meetings to share their experiences about studying abroad as well as highlighting the uniqueness of participating in Leadership for Social Justice Institutes and how this can be applied in the local situation. Participated in facilitating re-entry for other alumni coming back home.
- The IFP-Alumni, Kenya has formed and successfully registered the association in 2005. The association is registered under CAP 108 Laws of Kenya.
- Participated in discussions with other partners and or donors to explore strategies for collaboration with other organizations.
- Participation in Needs Assessment and in Pre Departure meetings for fellows elects.
- Participated and awarded certificates for participating at a forum to address the role of Ford Foundation in higher education. This drew participants from Ford Foundation New York and regional offices among other dignitaries.
- Have acted as co-facilitators in the 2006 LSJ held in Washington DC.
- Alumni have participated in IFP-Kenya outreach activities to help mobilize people in different parts of Kenya to receive information about the scholarship opportunity.
- The alumni have set up an e-mail list serve to facilitate communication amongst themselves.
- A bank account for the IFP Alumni Kenya has been open and members have started depositing voluntary contributions.
- A management team comprised of a chair, treasurer, secretary, and organizing secretary is in place.
- Good rapport with IFP Kenya office has been forged.
- Individual members have achieved tremendously at personal level either in community service or academic work or professionally.
- Held a public forum to educate the public on several topics during the Kenya Constititution making process
