
About IFP – International Fellowships Program
The Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP) is a program of the New York City-based International Fellowships Fund. The IFP Secretariat is housed at IIE headquarters in New York, which disburses the funds, and provides university placement for IFP fellows studyingni North america and Canada. IFP also works closely with Ford Foundation offices across the world.
IFP provides opportunities for advanced study to individuals who will use this education to become leaders in their respective fields. To ensure that fellows are drawn from diverse backgrounds, IFP actively seeks candidates from social groups and communities that lack systematic access to higher education, and support them through local partner organizations to enable them improve their leadership qualities through higher education. IFP works in 22 counties in Africa, Asia, South America and Russia.
More than 2,800 IFP fellows have completed their studies and returned to their home countries, where they have formed alumni associations and networks, building a vibrant community both within and across national borders.
Our Vision
IFP is a fellowship program uniquely designed to promote social justice, community development, and access to higher education. As the single largest program ever supported by the Ford Foundation, IFP advances the Foundation’s mission around the world. The program supports talented individuals from marginalized social groups, and encourages them to use their leadership skills and knowledge to work towards positive social change in their home communities and countries.
Aim
• IFP aims to provide opportunities to talented people from communities lacking systematic access to higher education so as to broaden the talent pool of future leaders in developing countries.
• To encourage Fellows to apply their advanced skills and knowledge in the development and advancement of their own communities and countries.
• To prepare Fellows to become leaders in the field that further the goals of the Foundation through the knowledge and skills gained from advanced graduate study.
